Clubhouse and Social Guidelines and Rules

1.                   The Mantoloking Yacht Club is a volunteer club and members are expected to support the activities of the Club by volunteering to chair and serve on committees.

2.                   Governors’ Cocktail parties are held twice during the summer season, on the first Saturdays of July and August.  There is no charge to the member. As such, these events are for members only with the exception of houseguests. In the case where a member is bringing a houseguest, they should call the event chairs and indicate how many additional guests they plan on bringing. Each member who attends the cocktail party is expected to bring an hors d’oeuvre. If a member is bringing a houseguest, they may be asked to bring an additional hors d’oeuvre as well.

1.                   Friday night suppers do not require a response and are held every Friday night usually beginning the weekend before the 4th of July weekend until Labor Day. Members’ guests are allowed and their supper will be charged to the member’s account.

2.                   Dinner Dances are held twice during the summer, once in July and August, and once again in October. They are traditionally held on the third Saturday of the month and are charged to members’ accounts. Members’ guests are welcome, as long as space is available, and will be charged to the member’s account. Dinner Dances require a response to the event chairs by the date requested in the flyer or invitation. Complete table requests are appreciated and individual requests will be accommodated whenever possible. Walk-ins will not be accepted unless there is a cancellation.

3.                   Sustaining members cannot charge Friday night suppers or Dinner Dances to their account.

4.                   Any club-sponsored social activity held on club property must be approved by the Rear Commodore.

5.                   Notices for posting on club bulletin boards must be coordinated through the Club Manager who will post them on the appropriate board.

6.                   Members and guests are responsible for the supervision of their children. Children are not allowed on the tennis courts unless they are playing tennis. Children are not allowed to play on the docks or in/near the Sailing Center, unless there is a nearby club-supervised activity. Children are not allowed in the inner office or in the kitchen unless approved by the Club Manager.

7.                   Children under 7 must be wearing a life preserver at all times while on the docks and must be accompanied by an adult. The safety of children, especially during Friday night dinners, is the responsibility of the respective parents. The Club is not providing any supervision or childcare during these events.

8.                   Parents are responsible for any acts of vandalism perpetrated on club property by their children. This includes prank 911 calls made from the club. The club curfew is dusk for children under 21, unless the club is open later.

9.                   Cell phone usage is prohibited in the clubhouse and porches, or in proximity of the tennis courts.

Tennis Rules and Regulations

1.                   The courts will be available for use (weather permitting) at 8:00 am. They will be open until 7:00 p.m., if daylight permits safe play. Please do not use the courts when wet. Courts may be closed in the afternoon for watering and grooming as needed. The tennis backboard may not be used before 8:00 a.m. or during tournament play and interclubs.

2.                   Court sign-up sheets will be posted at 8:00 a.m. for the next day. Members are allowed to sign-up for one court time per day and must sign up in person. Reservations are not effective after 10 minutes past the hour.

3.                   Members may use a court anytime that it is not signed up. When people are waiting, please limit play to 1 hour.

4.                   Courts will be blocked off for weekly clinics and may not be available unless clinic numbers allow it.

5.                   Juniors have no weekend rights, unless accompanied by an adult. They are not allowed to sign up for courts on the weekend. They are allowed to use vacant courts, but must yield to adults when requested on the weekend.

6.                   Guests may play only with paid tennis members at a fee of $5.00 per day. Members must register guests by signing a voucher before playing. The Tennis Master will allow guests to participate in clinics and “opens” if space is available. However, members may not sign up guests in advance for these events. Guests are limited to 5 times per summer season.

7.                   House Membership players are not allowed to bring guests.

8.                   Only members with paid tennis memberships will be permitted to enter tournaments or participate in tennis clinics.

9.                   Active club members who have not paid a tennis fee are not permitted to reserve courts, but may use the courts up to three afternoons during the year on a space available basis. They may use courts only after 1:00 p.m. The cost will be $10.00 for the non-tennis member and $5.00 for each guest. Please fill out a guest voucher before playing.

In the event that the Harbor Master is unable to re-assign the slip to another member, the member who originally requested the slip is responsible for full payment. Any member who is assigned a slip under this arrangement will pay the full seasonal rate for such slip. Fees will not be pro-rated.

4.                   The Harbor Master will monitor the use of slips during the season. If it is determined that a slip is not being used, the slip holder will be notified and MYC reserves the right to reassign that slip without compensation to the original slip holder. If a member is vacating a slip, the Harbor Master must be notified in writing.
